Future Past Radio Show was the highest rated show (next to the long running The Brown Bagger) on CFRO Co-op Radio in Vancouver BC. With the tireless efforts of Virginia Jazz, the show surpassed all expectations. Her love and knowledge of Vintage Jazz combined with tongue-in-cheek humour, give-aways, and loads of fun catapulted the show to the top. CBC Radio tried to snag her, but she refused to leave her home at Co-Op Radio. She got started by filling in at any time of day or night until she got her own time slot. After a couple years, she finally was able to get a time slot she liked. Her huge collection of 78RPM Gramophone records was delved into each week. She recorded thousands of songs from her gramophone onto her computer, but she also lugged along her actual gramophone to play music straight from her 78s. Unfortunately she passed away just as things were really starting to roll.
I made a PHPWebsite for Future Past, complete with three themes. I utilized sIFR (a Flash font embedding thingy) for the titles. On the Buster Keaton theme, there is an interactive flash cartoon that plays in the theatre at the top that I made to introduce Future Past. The characters in the audience are click-able and they do things. More animations were to come, I had started on the next, but unfortunately it was not to be. I also designed a sticker that Virginia had printed to give out to people at various festivals she attended in order to promote Co-Op Radio. it was a pleasure to work with her.
